YES Film is an ongoing project at Dickerage Adventure Playground in Kingston Upon Thames and has been running for the past year. A group of young people decided they would like to create film projects so a group of them got worked together to apply for a funding from the Youth Opportunity Fund to buy film equipment.
The group of young people began creating some films and decided to become a member of the Cine Club. This enabled the group to show their creations and get recognition for all their hard work on their different projects. Being the only youth club that is part of the Cine Club, Dickerage’s YES Productions had their work cut out for them, however despite the challenege this did not stop their determination and team work to strive towards greater achievements. Each group was given a chosen card from a full deck of playing cards, YES Film Productions we given the king of clubs and created a four minute short film of how greed can destroy dreams. Following the great success of the film it was put on the “BIG SCREEN” anounced by the Cine Club at the BFI (British Film Institute), only time can tell what the young people will do next. Ray Gearing, production manager of Pinewood Studios said, “the young people at Dickerage, film by film, just get better and better at an alarming rate, adults should watch out for their jobs”.
